The Values That Motivate Us *
* and by “us” I mean me - Hsiao-Yen, solopreneur founder, designer, and maker
Profit Sharing
As a full-time blogger and content creator, I’ve been consistently disheartened with how greedy the brands that have reached out to me have been, most of the time offering me only a “free gift” or a mere 5-10% commission on sales. In exchange for them potentially making hundreds if not thousands in profits from sharing their products, I was constantly hustling to make pennies on their dollars. So now that I’m calling the shots, I’m doing things differently: Instead of giving my ad budget away to corrupt tech companies, I intentionally partner with heart-centered female creators who are already making this world a more healthy, healed, and whole place, and split my net-profits 50/50 with them instead, enabling the both of us to rise into abundance together as the equals.

Non-Toxicity
In our world of fast-fashion jewelry made with cheap metals that will irritate your skin and/or turn it green (ie: copper, bronze, brass, etc.) at best, and expose you to, and pollute the environment with, heavy metals at worst (ie: lead, cadmium, mercury, etc.), even when you buy “high quality” gold, here at Eclectica I’m dedicated to crafting a safe alternative. Sourcing ONLY the highest quality 316L stainless steel ear wires and charms to create our pieces, you can rest assured that when you wear our earrings your physical vessel will be as protected as much as the habitats we and our fellow beings live in.

Sustainability
On top of stainless steel being one of the world’s most sustainable resources, it’s also one of the most durable. Beating most other metals in jewelry for its hardness – yep, being even harder than brass, bronze, copper, silver, and gold – the sustainability of stainless steel isn’t just in it’s ability to be infinitely recycled, but it’s longevity before it will ever need to be. Fast fashion jewelry may be seemingly affordable in the short term, but it’s cheapness ultimately is far more costly in its long term harm to ourselves and our mother earth. Plus, whenever you order from Ecletica your order *will* come shipped in a recyclable mailer or box and your jewelry inside will come in a kraft paper box(es), but *won’t* come with any extras… because we all know they’d all just go straight into the garbage > landfill.

Fair Labor
While it would be a hundred times easier and cheaper to outsource manufacturing to a “developing” country (ie: one that’s labor, even ‘fair trade’ labor, is cheaper because our fellow human beings are being exploited for profit), here at Ecletica I’m devoted to keeping our supply chains small – laser cutting all of our custom designed charms in house with ONLY 100% US sourced stainless steel sheet (with over 50% recycled content), while dually ensuring that our labor as small, ethical, local as it gets, with me, Hsiao-Yen (@theeternalbeginner) designing, laser cutting, hand hammering, constructing, polishing, and packaging each and every piece from my home studio here in Pittsburgh, PA.
