— Why I Created Eclectica —
All my life I have LOVED long, artsy, silver earrings. However, what I have not loved is how genuinely hard it has been to find them without major downsides. Every time I’d find *the perfect pair* that was just my style, I’d soon be let down with 1) how painfully heavy or irritating they were, 2) the looming risk that they might contain dangerous heavy metals, 3) how I never knew if my purchase supported environmentally toxic manufacturing, worker exploitation, or corporate greed. So how did I solve this problem? At first, I just tried to for myself - creating a single pair of lightweight, non-toxic, ethically and sustainable made earrings for my own wedding (the full story here). But as soon as I tried on my very first design, I knew that I had to share them with the world.
